The Impact of I AM ART on Casa Bernabe in 2015

In the message below, Sara Salguero, Executive International Relations Coordinator for FOCE / FUNPRONI, shares insight into I AM ART’s impact on the lives of children and staff of Casa Bernabe.[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=””][mk_image src=”https://athentikos.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Casa_B_Voice.jpg”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Overall, I would say the I AM ART camp experience was amazing. I saw our kids getting to use talents and gifts that I don’t think they even knew they had.
I saw some of our youth step up and lead their groups well, even though they had been youth that had been labeled as “rebellious” in the past. Kids are kids, and some initially complained about not getting to be in the workshop of their choice. But throughout the week, the kids ended up loving their workshop and their leaders. And, honestly I think that was the key … the leaders. Athentikos found, prepared, brought individuals who were passionate about their art and passionate about our kids. The I AM ART Team led our kids well and set an example of how God didn’t make any mistakes when he made us. He equipped us and gifted us just as we are. Sometimes it just takes a little extra work finding out what those things are. The Athentikos I AM ART team poured into our kids, loved them, blessed them, and honored them through the process. They saw their kids interacting with the I AM ART team, full of joy and life and FUN, as they were engaged in their workshops, and then especially on the final day of presenting their art. I have seen new faces singing on Sundays during church. I have seen more creativity in drawing. I have seen new members join the dance group. I have seen more engagement from our kids and youth overall. The mural is like their crown from the I AM ART camp. They were able to express themselves in new ways, and suddenly it didn’t matter if they weren’t the best in school or the best on the soccer field. They could do THEIR thing, and that was enough. I know so many of them would love the opportunity to continue to learn and grow and finish what they started that week. I AM ART was such a gift to our community and I am so thankful that it is exists. God is using the Athentikos I AM ART team in mighty and powerful ways!
