Each evening at I AM ART Camp in Guatemala, after the last brushstroke had dried and the art supplies were packed away, our team gathered for a quiet, sacred moment under the stars.
There, in the stillness of night, Dave Baggett led us through a powerful rhythm of Scripture, reflection, and restoration—a team Bible study that became the spiritual anchor of the week.

Anchored in Ephesians, Aligned with Identity
Throughout the week, Dave walked us through the book of Ephesians, weaving together God’s truth and the daily I AM ART themes:
- I Am Art
- I Am Broken
- I Am Loved
- I Am Restored
- I Am Connected
Each passage reminded us that our identity isn’t found in our talents, past, or performance—it’s rooted in who God says we are.
“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”
(Ephesians 2:10)
This truth gave us a foundation to stand on—and to serve from.
A Safe Space for Honest Growth
Every night, Dave created space for:
- Honest questions
- Spirit-led encouragement
- Personal insight and reflection

He didn’t just teach Scripture—he helped us apply it to the joys, challenges, and unknowns of serving through creativity. His wisdom helped our team stay grounded so that we could lead others from a place of authenticity, not burnout.
Seeing Ourselves with New Eyes
Time in the Word changed how many of us saw our role:
“I came to serve as an artist… but I now see myself as an ambassador of grace.”
We began to realize:
- We weren’t just artists.
- We weren’t just volunteers.
- We were already chosen, already loved, already whole in Christ.
From that identity, we could pour out freely—with open hands and full hearts.
More Than a Team—A Unified Body
By the end of the week, we weren’t just a group of volunteers.
We had become a body, unified in truth, purpose, and love.
Dave’s guidance laid a spiritual foundation that touched every part of the week—from the prayers we prayed, to the art we created, to the words we spoke over the students.
A Deeper Reminder
We came to Guatemala to serve others.
But through these sacred nights in Scripture, we were reminded of something more profound:
We are art—because we are made by the Artist, and redeemed by His love.
