Each afternoon at I AM ART Camp in Guatemala, students stepped into a series of hands-on creative rotations—mini art workshops that proved small moments can lead to lasting transformation. These short-form sessions gave children the opportunity to experiment with new materials, explore self-expression, and discover their identity in Christ through tactile, joyful artmaking. Whether weaving with yarn, trading handmade art cards, or wrapping branches with color and story, each rotation affirmed a simple, powerful truth:

They are wonderfully made and full of purpose.

Ripped Paper Collage

Led by Mia Gonzales and Kevin España
The rotation began with a reading of The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle. The children reflected on how—like the chameleon—each of us has unique traits that make us special.

With torn paper and bursts of color, they created vibrant collages that celebrated their individuality. Every piece became a declaration:

I don’t have to be like anyone else to be valuable.

Weaving

Guided by Alicia Cosby, Maricor, and Mario Delgado
With patient hands and joyful focus, students learned the ancient rhythm of over-under weaving. Yarn by yarn, they created colorful patterns and unexpected beauty.

This hands-on activity taught more than technique.
It taught patience, presence, and the slow power of creativity.

Art Trading Cards

Led by Lucy Hernández, Renata Delgado, and Pablo Hernández
Students designed mini masterpieces on trading cards—some to keep, some to give away. The highlight? Receiving surprise cards from GCA students in Tennessee.

It was a beautiful reminder that art connects hearts, no matter the distance.

A single card can carry kindness across borders.

Wrapped Branches

Facilitated by Katie Eller and Anita
Children transformed simple sticks into story-filled sculptures, wrapping them with colorful yarn, beads, and feathers.

From ordinary branches grew extraordinary creations—each one a celebration of transformation, texture, and storytelling.

Creative Rotations

Creativity on Display

At the final art show, these mini-projects stood proudly alongside the larger works. Family and friends paused to admire the colors, textures, and heart behind each piece.

Together, these small acts of creativity whispered a powerful truth:

I AM ART.
I am unique.
I am connected.
I am growing.
I am made with purpose.
